How Much Caffeine Is Actually in This?
Short answer: a can of GAMFC contains 220 mg of caffeine. It is printed on the nutrition panel on the back, next to the ingredients, which are water and coffee.
Long answer is more interesting, because almost nobody knows what the numbers on other drinks actually are.
Rough comparisons
These are typical published ranges, not laws of physics. Caffeine content varies with bean variety, roast, grind, water temperature, brew time and how heavy-handed whoever made it was feeling.
| Espresso, single shot (~1 oz) | ~63 mg |
| Drip coffee (8 oz) | ~95 mg |
| GAMFC cold brew (12 oz can) | 220 mg |
| Brewed coffee, large cafe cup (16 oz) | ~190–240 mg |
The thing most people find surprising is that a single espresso shot has less caffeine than a mug of drip. Espresso is more concentrated per ounce, but you drink about an ounce of it. Volume matters as much as intensity.
Why cold brew tends to run high
Cold brew is usually made as a concentrate — a lot of coffee, not much water, left for twelve hours or more. Even after dilution you often end up with more caffeine per serving than a standard hot cup.
But this is a function of the recipe, not the temperature. A heavily diluted cold brew can be weaker than drip. Anybody who tells you cold brew is categorically stronger is repeating something they heard.
Why we print it
Because you should be able to make an informed decision about what you are drinking, and because a lot of beverages are vague about this on purpose.
220 mg is a real dose. It is roughly two cups of drip coffee in one can. For most healthy adults that sits comfortably within commonly cited daily guidance of around 400 mg, but people vary enormously in sensitivity, and plenty of people have good reasons to watch their intake. If you are pregnant, taking medication, or managing a heart condition, that is a conversation for your doctor, not a coffee company's website.
We are not going to tell you it will fix your morning or change your life. It is coffee. It is good coffee. The number is on the can so you can decide for yourself.
