Rebel Lion Funds a One-Night-Only Show

Press Release · San Antonio, TX · 12 October 2026

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — San Antonio musician Scott Newman, performing as Rebel Lion, has launched a public fundraiser to stage a single live performance built around his debut album Bluebonnet Plague, due July 27, 2027.

The campaign target is $72,727, a figure chosen to echo the album's 07.27.27 release date. The full budget has been published line by line rather than summarised.

Published budget

Intended venue + one dress rehearsal$12,500
Production — sound, lights, LED wall, stage, crew$20,000
The lion — full prosthetic, SFX artist, costumes$10,000
Set design and build$9,950
Dancers, choreographer, sound engineer, rehearsal space$9,500
Filming — cameras, audio, edit$5,000
Paying every feature on the record$3,000
Marketing$1,500
Event insurance$1,200
Contingency — lion prosthetic materials$77
Total$72,727

What is being built

The stated plan includes a full prosthetic lion head worn for most of the performance, costume changes, backup dancers, a moving stage set, and a film crew so the show exists as a record after the night itself. Every featured artist on the album is to be paid $300 in hand for appearing.

Newman has stated that the performance may be the only show he plays, with no tour and no second night planned, and that the date and venue are not yet confirmed. The campaign page notes an intention to aim for release week while explicitly declining to promise it.

Structure

The fundraiser is a donation campaign rather than a pre-sale. No tickets, merchandise or packages are offered in exchange for contributions. Tickets are stated to go on sale separately once a date is confirmed. The organiser has committed to publishing what was raised and how it was spent.
